Man Jailed For Stratford Burglary Spree

A burglar has been jailed for a spate of break-ins after he failed to stop for police.

Jason Hatton struck four times at addresses in Stratford in May.
The 43-year-old of Giles Close, Birmingham, was arrested on 24 May after his car was spotted in Alcester. Officers rushed to the area and located the car which fled the scene.
He was stopped further down the road and apprehended.
Hatton pleaded guilty to four burglaries in Stratford, a burglary in Knowle, driving while disqualified, and breach of a restraining order in connection with an incident on 18 May.
Appearing yesterday (Monday 16 July) at Warwickshire Crown court he was jailed for five years and seven months.
At the time of the incidents he was on the run having previously absconded from HMP Sudbury where he was serving a 3 year 8 month sentence for harassment, common assault, threats to kill, and two counts of dangerous driving. Yesterday he was also convicted of escaping lawful custody.
Detective Constable Karl Brennan from the Warwickshire Police Offender Management Unit said: “Hatton has caused a lot of misery to the residents of Stratford. Local people can sleep more comfortably now he is behind bars.”

Details of the burglaries in Stratford:
22 or 23 May – Aintree Road
21 May – two in Hogarth Road
23 May – Wetherby Way
