Warning of Purse Dipping and Fake £20 Notes in Atherstone

A number of incidents of purse dipping have been reported in Atherstone this week.  Please be conscious of your purse at all times, especially when paying for and after purchasing items.  If you place it in your handbag please ensure you close and secure the opening and if possible put it at the bottom of your bag with other items over it.  Have your bag with you at all times, preferably over your shoulder and to the front of your body.  Never leave your bag or purse unattended or where someone else can have access to it.

FREE purse bells are available at Atherstone Library and at the front desk of the Council Offices.

If you see anyone acting suspiciously please let shop staff know and call the police.

There have also been a number of fake £20 notes being used in Atherstone with the code AE49252380 on.  Please be extra vigilant.

If you think you have been given one of these notes let your local bank know and contact the local police on 01827 719297 or email gavin.scott@warwickshire.pnn.police.uk.
