Importance of Reporting a Crime

This toolbox was found by a member of the public and reported to the police. It’s was booked into our property system and no owner was identified. We do this by searching our crime recording systems and checking for matching reports where tool boxes have been taken.

Prior to this tool box being sent for auction it was inventoried and an envelope was found with a name on it, with an address. A search of Facebook identified a possible owner and a message was sent to him.

The following morning the self employed male responded saying his van was broken into in Coleshill, but he didn’t report it. He collected the tools tonight and he couldn’t be happier.

So, even if you think it’s pointless reporting something please think again. By you reporting crime it helps us in so many ways.

* it helps us identify crime hot spots.
* it justifies increased police numbers in North Warwickshire.
* we can reunite people with stolen goods if and when we find them.
