Driver Disqualified and Fined Following Being Stopped in Atherstone

On Thursday 9th May 2019 Police were called by members of the public reporting a vehicle being driven in Market Place, Atherstone where the driver was thought to be under the influence of alcohol.

With help from PCSOs from the local policing team at Atherstone and Coleshill, the driver was located by officers and the driver was arrested as he was clearly unfit to be driving. Officers transported the driver to custody where he refused to provide a specimen of breath for analysis.

On Friday 24th May 2019 David McKeown from Merevale View, Atherstone pleaded guilty at Warwickshire Magistrates Court to failing to provide a specimen for analysis and was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined.
