Illegal Doorstep Sellers in Shipston and Surrounding Villages

Reports have been received to Warwickshire Police of illegal doorstep sellers in Shipston and the surrounding villages.

A person knocking the door of an address appears polite and may claim to be affiliated with some form of ‘back-to-work’ scheme for ex-offenders. These schemes do not exist in this form and any identification produced will be poor quality and fake. The aim of this supposed honesty is to make you believe that they are truly trying to turn their life around.

If anybody knocks at your door selling goods please check their identification. If they cannot produce a pedlar certificate from their local Police Force or they produce a document which claims that they are ex-offenders on a ‘back-to-work’ scheme then they are likely to be acting illegally and can be prosecuted.

Do not challenge them – call the Police.
