More Police Officers Hit The Frontline in Warwickshire as Part of Record-Breaking Recruitment drive

Policing teams across Warwickshire are set to swell as the latest cohort of student officers have successfully completed their training, part of an unprecedented recruitment drive for Warwickshire Police.

Warwickshire Police welcomed 14 new recruits at a Passing Out Ceremony on 15 August, the latest batch in this year’s intake of new officers which has set new records for the force.

The cohort has seen a disparate group of starters – including an ex-PCSO, former prison officer, scaffolder, electrician and even a scuba diver – turned into an efficient group of police constables following their intensive training.

Richard Moore, Deputy Chief Constable at Warwickshire Police, not only thanked the officers for all of their hard work, but also expressed his gratitude to the families present. He said: “I’d also like to thank the families for all of the support that they’ll be giving in the future. Policing is challenging. Their loved ones will be dealing with people in the worst of times, and often in life-changing circumstances.

“However, policing is one career with many different jobs, and we recruited these officers because of who they are – their different skills, trades, backgrounds and things they care about. Our new officers will find so many ways to serve the public, and if they serve them well in their hour of need, members of our communities will never forget that.”

Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe said: “I’m really pleased to welcome these additional new police officers as they move into their next stage of development, in Response across Warwickshire. This is a great county and I’m pleased that, alongside these officers who are taking their first steps on what I hope will be a long and fulfilling career in policing, Warwickshire Police is also able to welcome an increasing number of experienced officers who are opting to transfer here form other forces. It’s a great validation of our efforts to make this a great place to work and is another major step forward in delivering on my promise of an extra 150 officers by April 2020.”

The student officers will now be joining Response in Bedworth, Leamington Spa, Greys Mallory and Rugby. If you would like to join our new officers, apply to become a student police officer today at www.warwickshire.police.uk/policerecruitment.
