Public and Police Working Together – Three Arrests and Recovery of Two Stolen Vehicles

Upon receiving a call from the public of a suspicious vehicle seen in the area, officers responded which resulted in a foot chase of 3 suspects through Stratford Town.   Officers from Patrol, Local Policing, Dog Section, Firearms, Rural Crime Team and the Helicopter all supported each other with assistance from Stratford District Council CCTV operators.

A 19 year old female from Greater London was arrested but two males made it to a large area of shrubland behind the leisure centre.  A 16 year old male from Bedfordshire and 15 year old male from Staffordshire were later found and arrested on suspicion of burglary and vehicle theft offences. The 16 year old was also wanted for questioning in relation to Hampshire burglary matters.

Closer examination of the Jaguar and a Transit Panel Van nearby revealed they were both displaying false number plates. The Jaguar had been stolen from Hampshire in December and the Van from Gloucestershire only a couple of hours earlier.

This result was all thanks to members of the public who took the time to call and report suspicious incidents involving the Jaguar. They were called back, updated and thanked.
