Three Arrested on Suspicion of Farm Burglary

3 Arrested on Suspicion of Farm Burglary after Stinger Deployed on Transit Van

Following the report of a farm burglary in Hillmorton near Rugby on the 26th January, a witness was able to provide details of the Ford Transit suspected to be involved. An alert was put out to neighbouring Force areas to assist with the search.

A short while later West Midlands Police Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) Officers located the suspect vehicle nearly 40 miles away in Birmingham. A decision was made to pre-emptively use stinger on the vehicle and prevent any potential pursuit. This was successful and enabled the arrest of three occupants on suspicion of burglary. The Transit van (pictured) was seized.

A 56 year old male, 46 year old male and 41 year old female all from the Birmingham were taken into custody for questioning. The 46 year old male also has an outstanding Magistrate warrant for failing to comply with a community order imposed following conviction for a previous offence. He will be remanded in custody and put before the next available court.

This incident highlights the importance of our information sharing with neighbouring forces and at times those well beyond our boundaries.

Thanks to our colleagues in CMPG for their excellent work.
