Officers From Specials Tasking Team Make Arrest Following Abandoned Vehicle in Birchmoor

Last night officers from the Specials Tasking Team were on patrol throughout the north of the county, focusing on vehicle crime amongst others.

After coming across a parked van in Birchmoor whereby the driver had left their lights on, further inquiries were made to ascertain the owner and save them from a flat battery in the morning! Turns out the person saw officers and decided to make off across gardens. After conducting a search of the property, a small cannabis grow was found.   One person was arrested a few hours later at an address in Tamworth on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and were also found to be wanted for 3 x other separate offences.

Special Constables are unpaid volunteers, with the same police powers as their regular counterparts – including the power of arrest.
