Team Work on Operation Provides Good Results

On Monday the Rural Crime Team spent the day working at an Operation on the Warwick M40 services alongside officers from OPU (Operation Patrol Unit) and with the assistance of NAVCIS and other partner agencies. The purpose of the Operation was to target potentially stolen caravans, trailers and plant machinery travelling along the motorway network. The team have access to an array of tools to identify stolen items and one van was driving with what appeared to be excess weight in the back.

On stopping the van, it was found to contain a JCB mini digger and on initial inspection, there were no VIN plates found in the usual locations. We eventually found its identity and it was confirmed as stolen from Nottinghamshire in 2015.

Although no other stolen items were found during the course of the morning, valuable intelligence was gained.
