Dog Owners Urged to Think About Their Pets After Police Called to Dogs Locked in Cars in Hot Weather

Dog owners are being urged to think about their pets as the temperature and humidity increases after police were called to incidents in Kenilworth and Leek Wootton.

The appeal comes after Kenilworth and Warwick Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNT) were called earlier today (Friday August 7) to separate incidents where dogs had been left locked in cars in the heat and sunshine in Kenilworth and Leek Wootton.

While primarily it is not a police matter they do support the RSPCA wherever possible and in extreme cases there can be charges brought related to animal cruelty.

The appeal has been issued after police were called out to incidents in Kenilworth and Leek Wootton

The SNT teams want to reiterate to residents that dogs should not be left in unattended vehicles in hot weather as their health and welfare can be quickly and seriously affected.

If anyone sees a dog locked in a car in the heat and are concerned for its welfare they should call the RSPCA on 0300 123 8585 or alternatively Warwickshire Police on 101.
