OPU and Vehicle Crime Team Work Together to Catch Offenders

On Wednesday afternoon Warwickshire Police OPU Officers assisted the South Warwickshire Vehicle Crime Team with a stop on this Vauxhall Insignia in Leamington Spa town centre. The vehicle and occupants were linked to a number of bank card thefts across the West Mercia area. The offenders are suspected of targeting vulnerable people at Cash Points making a note of their pin number as they put it in. The offenders would then follow the vulnerable persons and steal their wallet or purse containing the bank card and any cash. Offenders then use the card and pin number to withdraw cash and make purchases. Both driver and passenger have been arrested and the vehicle seized and returned to the hire company. Early action by the Vehicle Crime Team and OPU Officers prevented any offences being committed in Warwickshire.
