Rural Crime Officers Link in With OPU Officers to Stop Vehicle

PC Andy Steventon and PC Craig Purcell from the Rural Crime Team were working together yesterday (9/8/20) to disrupt some of our key rural crime targets.

As PC Steventon was dealing with a crash and broken down van, the pictured van came past on false number plates and PC Purcell, in a separate vehicle,  was able to pursue it towards Long Itchington and through surrounding villages while passing details back to the Police Control room.

Officers from our OPU Warwickshire Team were guided in and lay in wait ahead, enabling officers to bring the van to a safe stop on the A423.

The 25 year old female Driver from Ryton on Dunsmore was reported to court for various traffic offences including having no insurance and driving with a vehicle in a dangerous condition due to having passengers in the rear storage area of the van.

Two passengers wanted as suspects in relation to theft offences in the Cannock area were also located for Staffordshire Police.

The van was seized so one less illegal vehicle using false plates and carrying theft suspects into our rural area down.
