Awareness Around Historic Sites and Monuments

An officer from our Rural Crime Team was shocked and saddened to attend a heritage crime at a very important church in our county, in a rural area.

As well as causing criminal damage and theft inside and outside of the church the offenders had also smashed 700 year old pews.  The community in the area are rightly upset by these dreadful acts and are assisting the police with their enquiries.

Churches, places of worship and other historic sites/monumets in very rural areas can be vulnerable so if you live near to one of these special and uniquely important sites please be vigilant and if you see anyone acting suspiciously or potentially committing a crime please call the police straight away.
