Deceased Monitor Lizard Found in Birchley Heath

A disturbing find by a passerby was reported to police at around 4pm on Monday 28th December.
Partially bagged, a deceased 3 ft Monitor Lizard was found dumped on the grass verge on Green Lane, Birchley Heath.
Unfortunately the abandonment of such species are not unheard of in the UK, and the RSPCA welcome contact from any owner who is unsure who to turn to if they can no longer care for it.
Rural Crime Team Officers attended the location and retrieved the lizard.
Enquiries are now underway to ascertain the reason for its early demise and its inappropriate disposal.
As these pets remain reasonably rare, someone may have information that may assist our enquiries or if you saw anyone acting suspiciously in that area, please advise us online at www.warwickshire.police.uk, email ruralwatch@warwickshire.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting inc 184 of 28/12/20.
