Alert to Telephone Fraud

Warwickshire Police are investigating four telephone fraud attempts in the last couple of days. In one incident, a couple from Atherstone were conned out of £20,000 after being contacted by someone claiming to be from Barlcay’s Bank who told them there had been suspicious activity on their account.
In other incidents, people were contacted by someone claiming to be from the Met Police or the fraud squad. Fortunately, no money was lost in these incidents.
REMEMBER
– The police or banks will never ask you to withdraw or transfer money. If they do it is a con.
– The police or banks will never contact you out of the blue and ask for personal details such as you PIN, password or account details.
