Police Warn Against Unacceptable Drunken Behaviour

As the pubs and restaurants opened their doors for indoor drinking and dining last weekend it proved a busy one for officers with 26 people arrested on suspicion of committing alcohol related offences.
Ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend local policing lead, Chief Superintendent Emma Bastone, is urging people to stay safe and warned action will be taken against people committing offences.
“As restrictions ease and life is returning to normality, we want all of our communities to be able to enjoy socialising safely with their friends and family. Last weekend was extremely busy for officers and we saw a considerable amount of unacceptable drunken behaviour. With a bank holiday weekend approaching and the weather looking nice we are issuing a warning; we didn’t tolerate criminal drunken behaviour last weekend and we certainly won’t this weekend.
“As with last weekend we’ll have extra officers on duty at key time over the next few days to help keep people safe. We’re urging people to know their limits and stay in control this weekend or potentially face the consequences of their actions.”
