Stolen Caravan Recovered by Rural Crime Team

During the night of the 20th September three caravans were stolen from a storage compound near Earlswood.
Following the theft officers from the Rural Crime Team made enquiries with The National Vehicle Crime intelligence Service and were able to engage with the manufacturers of the caravans in an attempt to establish their current location.
Fortunately one of the caravans was fitted with a tracker, that when activated was miraculously picked up by a passing police helicopter in Greater London.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police and Surrey Police attended the scene and recovered the stolen Swift caravan.
An 18 year old male was arrested on suspicion of theft at the scene.
This was a huge team effort that has resulted in the recovery of a £20k caravan, more importantly it has disrupted those responsible for facilitating the offences.
Further investigations are ongoing and we will bring you updates on this incident as they become available.
