Atherstone Man Granted Criminal Behaviour Order

An Atherstone man has been convicted of theft and given a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Jacob Porter, 30, of Queens Road, appeared at Coventry Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday) where he was found guilty of one count of theft from a shop.

It comes after Porter went into Lloyds Pharmacy on Long Street on 23 August and took baby items from the shelf before leaving the store without paying.

He was given a 12 month community order, ordered to carry out 50 hours of unpaid work, made to pay victim compensation, a victim surcharge and costs.

Magistrates also granted a 36 month Criminal Behaviour Order against Porter, which prevents him from entering Atherstone town centre unless under exceptional circumstances.

Sergeant Adam Skelsey said: “We welcome the conviction and CBO being placed against Porter.

“I hope these both provide reassurance to retailers and residents locally that we will take positive action to make our communities safer.”
