Alcester South Area Local Policing Team Newsletter

Hello all.

This is our latest weekly report and prompt to see if you have any questions, suggestions or concerns for the Alcester Police South SNT. Thank you to those that have contacted the Team this week. If you would like to be removed from this local email circulation list, please let me know asap.

For operational and privacy reasons not all the incidents that occur on the Alcester area are listed in this report. Please remember to report any anti-social behaviour, suspicious activity or crimes to us as soon as possible – this can be done via the 101 and 999 telephone numbers or if not an emergency via our online reporting forms that can be found on our website. If you have any information or cctv footage that may relate to the incidents listed, please contact us.

Incidents of a public interest from the last week:-

ALCESTER

  • *Vehicle Crime. Car park, off Crooks Lane, Alcester. Offenders have tried to gain access to rear of works vehicle damaging the lock. Nothing believed stolen at the time. Overnight 27th & 28th October. 0098 28/10/2021
  • *Theft. Shop, Kinwarton Road, Alcester. Items stolen from shop by way of shoplifting. Offender was a white female. 9.50am Tuesday 26th October. 0112 26/10/2021
  • *Anti-Social Behaviour. Hopkins Precinct / Conway Estate. Vehicle (Possibly a silver VW Polo) driving at speed on Hopkins Precinct, knocking over a bin. Several people also seen running around the precinct and onto the Conway estate. Full registration passed to police. 8.55pm Monday 25th October. 0415 25/10/2021

GREAT ALNE

  • *Vehicle Crime. School Close, Great Alne. Both number plates on vehicle stolen. Between 27th & 28th October. 0163 28/10/2021

LITTLE ALNE

  • *Theft. Little Alne. Old tumble dryer taken from driveway without permission. Two young men in a white van seen nearby at the time. Friday 15th October. 0118 26/10/2021

WIXFORD

  • *Road Incident X 4 calls. A46, Alcester to Bidford section. At least 3 people seen on the bridge throwing things down onto the road. Windscreen smashed on one vehicle by a brick. Other vehicle hit. No trace of offenders on police arrival. Area search made. 8.35pm Saturday 30th October. 0373 30/10/2021

BIDFORD

  • *Vehicle Crime. Saxonfields, Bidford. Red and black Yamaha YBR125 stolen without keys. Between 29th & 30th October. 0246 30/10/2021
  • *Anti-Social Behaviour X calls. High Street, Bidford. Group of approx. 5 youngsters in the street throwing fireworks at vehicles. Last seen heading towards Tower Hill. No trace of offenders on police arrival. Area search made. 8.10pm Wednesday 27th October. 0319 27/10/2021
  • *Vehicle Crime. Wards Lane, Bidford. Offenders have tried to gain access to rear of works van damaging the lock and handle. Nothing believed to be stolen at the time. Between 7.30pm and 10.30pm. Saturday 23rd October. 0078 27/10/2021
  • *Damage. High Street, Bidford. Large patio window smashed. Small hole found in corner of glass. 8.55pm Friday 22nd October. 0073 26/10/2021.

Neighbourhood Watch – Local Neighbourhood Watch schemes work in a variety of ways that reflect the needs of the local community. This includes: sharing crime prevention advice and information; running awareness campaigns; holding social events and awards for local people and businesses; leading community projects, such as litter picks, a community café, flood defence response, presentations in schools and work with young people and children and community messaging with the police. Vehicle Crime – Here are a few crime prevention tips to deter vehicle crime.

  • Always lock your vehicle. Whether it’s in the garage, on the driveway of your house, unattended for a few seconds or in an isolated car park, lock it and activate any alarm system.
  • Always remove valuable items from the vehicle. If this cannot be done the items must be removed from view and secured in a glove box or boot.
  • Fit an alarm that will activate on movement in the vehicle. An alarm that can notify you in real time that there is a problem is extremely useful.
  • Items such as tools and machinery that cannot be removed can be secured in lockers and security marked with high visibility paint etc.
  • If available, park your vehicle in a location that is covered by CCTV, overlooked by houses or is in an area that is in constant use.
  • Use anti-theft screws and sticky pads for number plates. If you have a plate that is stolen, replace it with one that has a different design so it is distinguishable from the stolen plate.
  • If you see or hear any suspicious activity around a car or car park, ring 101 to report straight away. Active crimes where the offenders are still at the scene can be reported on 999.

Street Safe – The force is supporting StreetSafe a new national online tool to allow people to flag places where they have felt unsafe. The system – which is primarily aimed at women and girls – allows members of the public to anonymously drop a pin onto a map and describe factors that caused them concern, including behavioural or environmental reasons why they felt unsafe. Superintendent Mike Smith, community and response policing lead for Warwickshire Police, said: “We’re pleased to support and promote this national initiative. Everyone has a right to walk the streets safely and we are committed to ensuring this happens. A key part of this is tackling violence against women. “We will use the information collected using this tool alongside other community intelligence to identify areas of concern and put measures in place to address them.”
