Pregnant Ewe Died Following Sheep Worrying Incident

Inc 203 of 9/3/22

Sometime between 1 and 1.30pm yesterday afternoon (9/3/22) pregnant sheep were chased in a field near to Kingsbury Water Park by a dog/s with a number being attacked.  One ewe has had to be euthanised due to her injuries.

A female with 2 dogs was seen nearby and we would like her to contact us.

If you were in this area or have any information that could help the police with their enquiries please contact the Rural Crime Team by emailing ruralcrimeteam@warwickshire.police.uk, informing us online at www.warwickshire.police.uk quoting the incident number above.

Sadly there have been a number of incidents where sheep have been chased by dogs recently.  Although any livestock worrying incident is concerning at all times of the year, it is extremely serious as we are presently in lambing season with heavily pregnant ewes in the fields and with young lambs at foot.
If you own a dog PLEASE keep your dog on a lead if walking anywhere near livestock.
• When using a public footpath, you and your dog(s) need to keep to the line of the path and the dog should either be on a lead or under close control.
• Do not allow your dog to enter a field on its own and keep your dog on a lead when crossing through fields that contain livestock.
• If you know your dog has previously chased or attacked sheep then take responsible measures to prevent it happening again. Dogs can seriously injure and kill sheep – and as well as the animal welfare aspect, this can have a huge impact on rural livelihoods.
• Please always pick up after your dog and take it home or put it in the nearest bin – don’t leave bags in hedges or at the side of a field.
Follow the Countryside Code at all times.
