Advice on Stihl Equipment

The Police often recover arb kit, strimmers, jet washes, blowers and saws.
Quite often – we suspect they are stolen but it’s difficult to identify the owner.
When a Stihl product is sold to a dealer – the 9️⃣ digit serial number on every Stihl product is registered with the company – eg 123456789 is registered to e.g. Farol Ltd / Chandlers (Farm Equipment) Ltd etc etc.
This attributes the item to the dealer. Once they sell it – they will keep their own record of who they sell it to.
This process means we can send relevant GDPR forms to Stihl and we can follow the trail to find the rightful owner.
When buying new kit – make sure you give your details to the dealer so they can keep it on file if we need it. Take some pictures of your kit and the 9️⃣ digit numbers on it as well.
We can then seek a charge of handling stolen goods on anyone who has possession of someone else’s kit, and most importantly, we can get it back to the rightful owner.
