Alert Re Danger of Grass Cuttings to Livestock
We have been made aware of a report of a pile of grass cuttings put in a field with livestock in causing one animal to be extremely ill.
Lawn/grass cuttings can be extremely dangerous to livestock, including horses and in some situations can lead to their death.
Please do not put lawn/grass cuttings in a field, it is not the same as the grass that the animals graze naturally or used by the farmer for hay or sileage.
Livestock and horses should not be fed anything unless you are the owner of the animal or have been given permission by them to do so.
We appreciate in most instances people are unaware of this danger to livestock so we wanted to help increase awareness and hopefully no more animals will come to harm.
