Seized bikes and safer streets: Warwickshire Police Operation Undertook making a difference

Operation Undertook is the response by Warwickshire Police to motorbikes being ridden illegally and/or antisocially, causing fear and frustration in our communities.

Thanks to intelligence submitted by residents via Warwickshire County Council’s ‘Dob ‘Em In’ scheme – an online reporting system set up by the council’s Community Safety team – the operation is already seeing results.

Warwickshire Police are working closely with the Community Safety team to get nuisance bikes and riders off the streets, and they recently issued an appeal to local communities to continue to provide intelligence, however small or insignificant it may seem.

You may have seen details of successful seizures and Section 59 Warning Notices being issued on our local social media pages, as Op Undertook focuses on hot spot locations in North Warwickshire. The operation will continue into next year, and we’re hoping to receive further intel from our local communities that helps inform our patrols in these target locations.

If you’ve seen signage in these areas, you may have noticed that you can report issues via a QR code, but you can also use the form at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/dobemin or phone 101 (remember to always call 999 in an emergency).

The most useful intelligence is detailed, including descriptions, names and addresses of riders (if known), and descriptions of the bikes. As well as leading to arrests, suspects being identified and bikes being seized, this intel is helping us find stolen bikes that we can return to their owners.

When used appropriately in suitable and approved locations, off road bikes can be a lot of fun. However, a small minority ruin this fun by churning up playing fields and terrorising villages across our county. By sharing anything you know about anti-social riders, you can help put an end to the issues caused by nuisance bikes. Nothing is too small or unimportant, and every little helps.

If you ride a bike on our roads in a dangerous manner and cause harm or fear in our communities, Warwickshire Police are coming for you.
