Fly Tipping
The Rural Crime Team have recently received reports regarding Fly Tipping.
Fly-tipping is illegal, bad for the environment and often a health hazard. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) estimates that clearing fly-tipped rubbish from the streets costs local councils £4 million a month. If you dump rubbish you will face a fine of up to £50,000 or 6 months in prison.
Your local council are responsible for dealing with fly tipping. They provide details of how you can correctly dispose of your household waste and how to give information on offenders.
You can report to Warwickshire Police via 101/ www.warwickshire.police.uk and only 999 in an emergency. You can also call the Environment Agency hotline with information on 0800 80 70 60 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
When possible and you can safely do so, please remember to record the following:
- Where you saw the offence being committed.
- When you saw it being committed.
- Registration, make, model and colour of vehicle being used.
- Description of offender(s)
