Alert to Livestock Owners

This time last year in Warwickshire and nationally there was a rise in reports of sheep and lamb thefts, especially where lambs were coming up to weight. With many only realising they had sheep missing after getting their flock in to count or administer medicine.
We would like to encourage farmers and anyone who keep sheep to pay close attention and to try and keep track of their flock as best they can with regular checks and changes in routine.
We understand this can be difficult given the amount of land that many farmers have to cover and the number of animals, but we would still advise increased vigilance at this time.
Also if you live near a field with livestock in please also be vigilant and report any suspicious activity or vehicles.
In the event that you believe livestock are in the process of being stolen please call 999.
If you have discovered animals have been taken on doing a check then please report this by either calling 101 or via the Warwickshire Police Website at www.warwickshire.police.uk.
