Class A Drugs Seized After Officers Stop Car in Atherstone

Two people were arrested after officers who stopped a car in South Street, Atherstone, seized what they believe to be cocaine and cannabis.

Officers from the Operational Policing Unit who were investigating a report of a man being threatened in Long Street, Atherstone, stopped the car at around 3.55pm on Tuesday 16 April.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply, possession of class B drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

A 30-year-old woman from Atherstone was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply. She has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Todd Lomax from Nuneaton Offender Management Unit said: “Officers responded promptly to a report of threatening behaviour in Atherstone and quickly identified and detained two suspects. During the arrest drugs and a knuckle duster were seized.

“We are committed to tackling the supply of drugs in the county which often involves violence and I would urge anyone who suspects drug activity in their area to report it to us.”
