Man Sentenced to Nine Years Imprisonment For Death By Dangerous Driving

A man has been sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment for death by dangerous driving following a fatal collision on the M42 in 2017.

Tony Owens, aged 37 of Westfield Avenue, Ashby-de-la-Zouch appeared at Warwick Crown Court on Friday.

At around 8.50pm on 19 August 2017, a collision took place between a Peugeot 307 and a Vauxhall Agila on the M42 southbound near to Granada Service Station. .

The passenger of the Agila, 83-year-old Raymond Goode, sadly died in the collision. His wife was also seriously injured in the collision and required extensive hospital treatment.

Tony Owens, the driver of the Peugeot, fled the scene and handed himself the following day, where he was arrested and later charged.
