This week, following a report of a tracker from a stolen vehicle plotting in our area,  the Rural Crime Team began investigating.  Working with the Shipston Safer Neighbourhood Team the officers spent a number of hours in the Shipston area.  The work paid off with the team recovering an estimated £60,000 worth of stolen property, including 2 x caravans, 2 x trailers, 2 x Ford transits, an industrial concrete mixer, vehicle parts and power tools.

The vehicles and equipment are in the process of being returned to owners and an investigation is underway, with suspects to be interviewed and forensic opportunities to be progressed.
If you have tools, plant, machinery, trailers or caravans please mark it in some way and keep a record with photographs, including serial and VIN/chassis numbers.  This helps the police in identifying property and returning it to the rightful owner.  There are a number of schemes that can also assist such as Datatag for plant, tractors, plant and tools, CRiS for caravans, forensic or visual marking kits, plus others.  Trackers and other security/crime prevention equipment should also be considered.  To help keep a record of your equipment we have downloadable forms on our website that you can either print off or file on your computer:
